I don't believe the public option is going to be naturally competitive... Its hard to predict what will happen when you introduce such a huge player into the market... especially considering that player can make whatever the hell laws it wants to so they can dominate (if they want)... Either way it needs to be taken A LOT slower than it has been...

I like that idea... placebos that is... I agree we need reform but I just don't want the government to take over... I'd rather they smack the insurance companies in line...

gibson19 wrote

Well what do you propose we do to get them healthier?

gibson19 wrote
Oct 14, 2009 at 20:18
Ridiculous... yes... But my point is people need to take care of themselves... It costs more to insure people like that because of their behavior... Just like it costs more to insure people people who are over weight... Thats one of my issues with government health care... If everyones basically paying the same "premiums" through taxes then unhealthy people win on that deal...

gibson19 wrote

Sorry I procrasinate... but I fail to see how your putting a price on a persons life... But taking AIDS for example... at least in America its not just something you easily get... if people are wise about their health they won't contract it so why shouldn't it be expensive as it could promote better health...

gibson19 wrote

Except that pharmaceutical companies decided they want to charge that much... and people are obviously willing to pay that much as well..

gibson19 wrote
Oct 11, 2009 at 9:57
But if thats their prerogative who am I to stop them from becoming more wealthy... If someone wants to buy a half million dollar car why shouldn't they be allowed to... I think everyone has their role in the world and wealthy people create jobs, invest in new technologies that may not otherwise be discovered, stuff like that... The sad truth is you typically have to be born into that...

gibson19 wrote

I don't think I'm gonna be rich... I'm most likely joining the police force in Canada after I graduate... and ya there are loopholes... thats why we need reform... Our tax code is what like thousands of pages of fine print... No wonder rich people can find loopholes... If they made it so you paid say 23% tax on every good you buy it'd be impossible to cheat the system... and what benefit do they bring... Seriously... They create jobs...

gibson19 wrote

I'll agree with you that privatized medicine is becoming corrupt... I mean the pharmaceutical companies are charging exorbitant prices for their drugs and whatnot... But I mean a flat sales tax... Not a flat income tax... Rich people buy more things so they'll end up contributing more in sales tax and that way people who are just scraping by have a better shot because they are not automatically having their money taken... instead they can be smart about it and not spend their money on things that aren't absolutely essential... When rich people save their money it doesn't always just sit in a bank and rot... lots of time money that isn't spent is turned into investment whether it be into companies or into American capital... I'm actually surprised that so many rich people still live in America considering how much they are taxed... Granted its probably better than anywhere else in the world

I see.... I'll probably check it out anyways... I'm curious to hear what he has to say about speculation... Cause that can be a good thing some of the time... Was there any mention of the tax system??

Well they have a couple left in 36 hole. But they don't sell them built - only in 32. I've tried emailing them twice over the last week asking if they will build 36's for me as I'd rather have 36 anyhow - but both times the email came back as - the address is not valid.
